Reviews:
- Wine Spectator: Beautiful aromas of flowers and fresh plum, with hints of stems. Full-bodied and medium-sweet, with gorgeous silky tannins and a long, long finish. This is just starting to come around and offers wonderful flavors.
- John Gilman:Â The nose is deep and still rather reticent in this size, reluctantly offering up a fine mix of cassis, black cherry, tobacco, a bit of tar, violets, smoke and spicy wood. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and very well-delineated, with a rock solid core of fruit currently buttoned up tight behind a wall of ripe tannin.
Producer InformationTaylor's is one of the most important Port houses in the Douro region of northern Portugal. It is notable for its wide range of traditional ports, from vintage expressions to tawny ports of various ages, and also for its creation of the Late Bottled Vintage, or LBV, style.Unlike many other houses, which include a range of dry red wines in their portfolios, Taylor's only makes Port. The portfolio includes a series of bottle- and wood-aged Ports including vintage, LBV, single-harvest and white Port. While best-known among winelovers for its single-vintage releases, Taylor's also boasts two single-estate offerings. The highly-regarded Quinta de Vargellas (purchased in 1893) represents the heart of the business. It lies in the western part of the Douro Superior and has 67 hectares (166 acres) of vines.
