The twenty-one year-old just might be the best Highland Park Single Malt ever.

Highland Park is the most northerly distillery in Scotland on the Orkney Islands. Legend has it that it was founded by Whisky smuggler Magnus Eunson in the late 1700s and that he used his position as a church officer to conceal Whisky beneath the church pulpit. Don’t assume that "Highland Park" means their Whisky is made in the Highland style. In character, their Spirit is closer to a midpoint between Lowland and Islay Single Malts. Perhaps the most famous Whisky connoisseur of all time — journalist Michael Jackson — called Highland Park, "The greatest all-rounder in the world of Malt Whisky."

We’ve never met a Single Malt Whisky-lover who would refuse a dram of Highland Park. And for many, the twenty-one year-old was their favorite. But shortages of aging Spirit caused it to disappear from the core range for more than a decade. But they brought it back as a limited release in 2019, and we’ve got our hands on a few cases.

Highland Park 21 Year Old August 2019 Release has been aged in six first-fill Sherry European casks, five first-fill Sherry American casks, and five refill casks. The resulting sweet nectar of the gods has been bottled at a perfect 46% ABV.
